How to care for your candle:

Important: Wood wicks require some maintenance and upkeep. While cotton wicks should be trimmed to 1/4 inch, it is important to trim your wood wick to 1/8 - 3/16, and no longer than these measurements. If the wick is too long, the wax will not be able to pull up the wick and your flame will extinguish. If there is too much ash build-up on your wick your flame may become smaller, you will need to extinguish your candle and remove the ash once it has cooled. Relight your candle and enjoy! Now to the fun stuff.

Believe it or not, there are correct ways to burn your candle to ensure you are getting the full candle life span. Maintenance is very important when using your candles.

To begin......The Memory Burn

When you first burn your candle, it is called the memory burn. This burn is the most important if you want your candle to burn evenly and steadily, burn after burn. We recommend that you allow your candle to melt to the edges of the glass before you blow out the flame each time your candle is lit, but especially on the first burn to avoid tunneling.

Wick care (Just to reiterate....)

Wood wicks require some maintenance. Your wick should always be trimmed to about 1/8 in height. Always remove the ashes or charred part of the wick once the candle cools or just before you relight your candle. It takes a little time for the melted wax to pull up the wick. With a little maintenance, the wood wicks will scent your home quickly.

Safety Precautions

Always keep candles free from flammable objects, children, and pets. Never burn candles unattended and on porous (paper, cardboard, fabric, etc...) surfaces. Do not burn for more than 4 hours at a time. Do not place candles near heavy drafts as this can cause smoke and uneven burns. Also, see the safety label under the candle jar as a reminder.
